DANCIN Vineyards - Summer 2015
DANCIN Vineyards - Summer in the Vineyard
At DANCIN Vineyards we want to provide the opportunity for the vines to live in a healthy vineyard, where they in turn will provide us with the best fruit possible for our wines. Each season we devote two to three weeks, to tuck and tie the shoots to the wires. This keeps the shoots where we've initially positioned them, so that the afternoon breezes will flow through the vineyard and keep the fruit relatively dry. Our attention to detail in the vineyard, shines through in our wines.
DANCIN Vineyards Spring Double Prune
DANCIN Vineyards prepares the vines for “spring-shape” by completing the first phase of the double pruning process, which includes removing the majority of last year’s growth (and the 85,000+ pieces of green tie tape) from the trellis while leaving 7-8 buds in place. The next phase, performed after bud break and when the threat of frost has passed, will consist of removing all but 1-3 buds from the spurs/shoots. The process is explained along with the reason for tying the shoots year after year. To learn more about DANCIN Vineyards, please visit dancinvineyards.com.
